I love the idea of bios for you guys with pictures (or avatars if you
don't want your picture).

Subject: [Askalibrarianqa] Readings and Other Issues
Hi Everyone,
It's been a very busy week for me as I've been coordinating SPC's
annual Library User Survey during National Library Week. I will be
completing my Chat readings today. I notice several of you have already
submitted nominations for March, and I'm glad! We had set 4/20, tomorrow
as our tentative deadline for submissions. If you need more time, let me
know.
If you don't find any Exemplary chats in a category, then you won't be
nominating as we agreed. If you want to read yet another set, feel free
to do that. Joyce and I were commenting when we met at FLA that many of
the librarians are really showing their experience in Chat Reference.
It's good to see!
Diana asked me recently if we need to increase the number of members
of our WorkGroup. Please think about that issue. I am inclined to accept
a couple more members for a couple of reasons. One reason is that many
librarians are showing more interest in the AskALibrarian service, and
participating in the Workgroup is an excellent way to get more involved
in AskALibrarian.
I also sense more buy-in by librarians who are staffing AskALibrarian,
partly from reading transcripts that reflect more experience of the
librarians. My other reason for wanting to add a couple more members is
that in the past we lost 4 excellent members of the Workgroup within a
very short time. Two librarians moved out of the area, Washington State
and Singapore, and one librarian quit to have a baby. It was difficult
to rebuild the team when we lost so many librarians on the QA Workgroup
at one time.
Please give me your input on the idea of increasing our numbers.
Another idea I have is that we might want to post a short bio of
ourselves with a photo for the section on our Workgroup. What do you
think about doing that? In the past I had all the Workgroup members
exchange bios which worked well. I'm sorry we did not take a photo at
FLA.
I enjoyed FLA, especially the AskALibrarian Forum. It was good to see
the recipients of the Exemplary Chat awards come forward, and QA
Workgroup was recognized as a group.
Let me know what you think about expanding the workgroup and any other
issues.
