Hi Pat,
Thanks for the update and words of encouragement. Both Nicole and I
sent our photos and bios to Diana as she requested. I think also that
we should continue to encourage nominations from AAL users even though
our group is now reading and submitting entries. I like the reminders
to the group that both you and Diana sent previously. Wondering if the
process of nomination is too tedious for some and if something can be
done about that. I know that it has been discussed before.

Subject: [Askalibrarianqa] Tally of the Exemplary Chat Winners
Hi Everyone,
These are the winners of the Exemplary Chats for March:
Exemplary Brief Chat (3 out of 6 votes)
H, Pammy This brief chat displays good patron rapport and good use of
library resources. Pammy helped a visually impaired patron locate a
library database with real estate exams. She was very helpful and
efficient. 3/12/2007 2:16:12 PM Chat duration: 0 hr 13 min 18 sec

Pierce, Meredith Meredith was very helpful and attentive to the
patron's need. She located a good alternative source for a patron who
was searching for a particular video that was not available from her
library. Good use of library resources. Meredith helped a teacher who
was looking for videos. /12/2007 12:09:16 PM Chat duration: 0 hr 31 min

Exemplary Teaching Chat (3 out of 6)
C, Ann 3/12/2007 1:14:29 PM Chat duration: 0 hr 30 min 36 sec Ann used
her interview skills to determine exactly what the patron needed. She
then explained step-by-step how to use the Florida government site to
answer the question. She stayed with the patron making sure she had the
correct information and that she knew how to retrieve this information
in the future Ben's trucking site.

I will send out a Reading Schedule very soon. Again, we are rotating
days of the week through each month to try and read as many different
librarians' chats as possible. We agreed to read 50 chats for the day
assigned. My advice is either to vary your readings from morning to
evening or read the whole day (especially if you are not finding any
chats worthy of nomination).
Hopefully, we can soon exchange biographies with each other and photos
or Avatars so that Diana can have them placed on our information page
about our Workgroup.
Then, we can see about expanding the workgroup.
Thanks for working on this project! Today, the head librarian at my
campus asked for the information about Jorge Perez's recognition at FLA
for Best Brief Chat for November 2006. The recognition that the QA
Workgroup is giving to the librarians who are staffing the service is
being noticed by the administrators of the participating libraries.
Digital Reference has its own special challenges, and I'm glad that we
can promote AAL through our workgroup's work and support the librarians
who are staffing the service.
Pat
