Hi everyone. I've completed my nominating. Regarding the problem of
having the same librarians nominated multiple times....I agree with
Laurie that there are some librarians who excel. If they are among your
chat transcripts to read for that particular day and there are no other
contenders that qualify, then by all means add them to the nomination
list. With all the librarians chatting, however, I think we will rarely
run into that problem. I like Laurie's idea of winning no more than
twice a year...although Pat would be the lucky person to monitor that,
right?
Nicole

Subject: [Askalibrarianqa] Nominations for April 07
Hi Everyone,
Has everyone input their nominations into the database? I just
finished mine today. I left out the nominations for librarians who have
already been recognized before although I think we should discuss that
issue some more. These were Laurie Hime's comments about the issue
Now that is really something to think about. I think that since the same
people are creating new answers month after month, it is bound to
happen.
I suppose we could create a policy where the same person does not win
more than twice a year? That may be one way to curb it. But to be
fair, some librarians simply excel at their ask a librarian answers, and
indeed, spend more hours there and hence garner more interesting
questions to answer.
Even if we change the policy, I think we will continue to see thier
names over and over in the nominations.
Laurie
I found the database extremely slow loading both the transcripts and
the operators to figure out who had actually done the chats. I wonder if
Doug Furiato can do anything about that issue. To me it is a major
drawback when nominating. I'll email him and ask him if there is
anything that can be done to speed up the loading of the transcripts and
operator information.
Let me know if you've all completed nominating or need more time. I am
taking vacation days on May 24 and 25 so won't be back then until May 29
although I'm here tomorrow.
Pat
