I totally agree about the problems of answering homework questions There
should be some special rules for these! Laurie

Hi Everyone,
Pat is having difficulty accessing our group emails, but I have emailed
her to catch her up. I agree with Pat and Nicole on this matter.
First, Amy's chat did have some incorrect information about helping
out-of-state patrons and usually Diana and Jennifer handle these
problems with a simple referral to them. They have helped me with this
matter.
Secondly, I agree with Nicole regarding Amy. I believe that Amy was
trying to deal with a rude and not too articulate patron. She asked if
it was a homework question and was probably going to see if the patron's
local library had Tutor.com or some other homework help. Probably, not
a bad idea and maybe more useful than a math Web site for this type of
question.
Finally, homework questions are a problem. I have seen people answer
these questions one after another with no referral. Perhaps we need
some policies and some responses for patrons so that we are all on the
same page on this matter. I am sure that Diana and Jennifer can help us
on this matter.
I do appreciate Cindy's concerns and hope we can benefit from this
discussion.

Hi Everyone,
I hope this email gets through. I have not been receiving the emails
from the listserv and I was puzzled why no one had sent their bios.
I did send criteria to all our new members. Please let me know if you
received that email directly to my email at work
barbier.pat at spcollege.edu
However, I would remind Cindy, that we had agreed that "problematic"
chats would be sent to Diana Sachs or Jennifer Sullivan.
Pat
