Hi Everyone,
Below are the results of our voting on the Exemplary Chats for May 08. I hope I got the home libraries of the librarians correct. I'll be sending a reading list soon for June. It's wonderful to have so many interested members of this workgroup!
We've kept close to task despite the summer vacations and breaks for the academic libraries.
It's great working with all of you!

Brief Exemplary Chat
Mandy M. (St. Petersburg Public Library) (nominated by Cindy) 13 min
Mandy offered a couple of great website suggestions for a patron interested in becoming a new homebuyer. She also included accessing the patron's local library's catalog and offered titles that would be useful and showing as "checked in." The patron's exact words... "thank you for your help im glad you're so knowledgible." Great job Mandy! http://www.askalibrarian.org/collaborative/vrl_xscriptdetails.asp?id=91578&process=
Detailed Exemplary Chat
Christine B (Suwanee River Regional Library) (nominated by Pam) 25 min Christine helped the customer find many relevant links for her project on the Holocaust. She was patient and kind, which the customer and her friends appreciated.

Teaching Exemplary Chat
Sandra Lee H (St. Leo University) (nominated by Christa) Comments:
Operator did an excellent job of showing the customer how to find online material for teaching multiculturalism. Good reference interview!

I would like to add that Catherine Katz's (http://www.askalibrarian.org/collaborative/vrl_xscriptdetails.asp?id=91025&process=) chat nominated by Joyce for Exemplary Teaching chat particularly impressed me with her approach to helping a patron from another library! I am wondering if that is a criteria that we could add in our evaluation of chats (maybe ability to assist patrons with their home library's resources).
