Ok, last question on eligibility, I promise!

What about an MLS student with an assignment to do a query on Ask a Librarian? To further muddy the waters, he had a genuine personal interest in the question he asked.

I thought the question should count, but wanted to make sure before I nominated it.

AAL interns are definitely eligible.

Diana (Sachs-Silveira) and Traci (Avet) are not and neither are the members of this Quality Assurance Workgroup.  So George you're out, so is Courtney, and I can't be eligible either no matter how wonderful we are!  LOL!  :)

Pat, Diana--  is there anything I'm missing?

Hopefully the AAL/QA member webpage http://info.askalibrarian.org/toolbox/qa.asp will get updated soon to reflect the new members that have just started.

After you login to the librarian "toolbox" you can find the list under Exemplary Reference Awards, then scroll down to and click on View Nominees & Winners, click on All Exemplary Reference Award Winners<http://askalibrarianfl.pbwiki.com/Exemplary-Reference-Award-Winners>

This will bring up the entire list of winners for the last few years. I usually check against this so I am not nominating anyone who has won within the category for the last year.  It's also nice to see who has been nominated more often.  I think as we gain momentum, we might even consider something like a "shining stars" category or something like that where people have had multiple nominations and/or wins.

Just for clarification... it was my understanding that a nominee could not be eligible for the same nomination more than once a year.  Susan Smith is being nominated twice this month in the brief category and she won it in October 2008.

Hi Everyone,
  Let's try for July 20 to have our nominations in for May.

  George brought up the question of how to access the transcripts to read.

Here are some directions:

 1.  Log into Toolbox
 2.  Log into AskALibrarian
 3.  Be sure and check all boxes so you will see the transcripts for both academic and collaborative
 4.  Click on Reports at the top
 5.  Under Departments click on Chat Transcripts
 6.  Hold your control key down to check academic, collaborative
 7.  Set your date choosing the bottom circle and
 8.  for the top and bottom set on your date to read
 9.  Then click View Report
You should get the chats for your day. You can click on the hot links to see the transcripts. You will need the name of the librarian, the incident number, and the type of chat plus the length of the chat if you choose one to nominate. Then you go to Toolbox, login, and hover your mouse over Exemplary Reference Awars. Then choose Nominate Transcript.
