of electronic resources. Group purchases leverage the groups buying power
and results in better pricing for all participants.
TBLC-negotiated purchases will be distributed to members

Facts on File
Facts on File is offering TBLC members subscriptions to
their databases at a discount rate.
This will allow folks to preview Facts for Learning
(elementary and middle school modules) and the Reference Suite, which
includes the World News Digest, Issues and Controversies, Today's Science,
and The World Almanac Reference Database and Encyclopedia.
The Reference Suite@ FACTS.com offers researchers the
perspective of more than 65 years of full-text news from the Facts On File
World News Digest, interconnected with Issues and Controversies On File,
Todays Science On File and The World Almanac Reference Database and
Encyclopedia. These resources can be bought in any combination.
The Reference Suite@ FACTS.com provides the researcher a
well-rounded overview of historical details and perspective on news from
yesterday and today in Facts On File World News Digest; key information on
controversial topics in the news in Issues and Controversies; information on
the latest scientific advances in Todays Science and statistics and
cornerstone reference information in The World Almanac Reference Database.
Facts for Learning provides students with a safe, secure
on-line environment with intuitive interface and design. It is a homework
resource center with grade-specific menus and results, printable graphics
and activities and puzzles linked to information content. With current,
timely information and archived classroom magazines, Facts for Learning
promotes student-driven learning and helps build comprehension and skills.

Purchase Order Available for Group Purchase of OverDrive
Downloadable Audio Books
TBLC is moving forward with its group purchase of
OverDrives Downloadable Audio Books.
OverDrive offers libraries the ability to offer their
users downloadable books from their homes. Titles are hosted on an OverDrive
server, however titles can be integrated and accessed via your librarys
online catalog. Library users can access titles, browse booklists and check
titles out through a customizable interface. Participating libraries will be
able to choose the specific titles to be purchased for this joint
collection. Titles are owned locally after purchase.
OverDrive audio books support both dial-up and broadband
users. The service permits downloadable audio books to be burned to standard
CDs for playing in the car or for immediate use with many popular MP3 audio
players. OverDrive audio books also have accessibility features for the
visually impaired and are currently available from websites of talking book
libraries serving the blind. To view other libraries offering the service

The price for full participation in the OverDrive
downloadable audio book project is $4,400 per an institution.
