URSA/iBorrow Users,
URSA/iBorrow has some quirks that are not mentioned in the manual. As
we discover these gems, I'll try to share them with you, so that you can
mystify and amaze your co-workers. To keep them brief, I'll generally
limit them to one quirk per chapter.
Title Searching in the iBorrow Client
In Search Requests there is a search labeled "Title". As Librarians we
tend to assume it is a keyword search. And it almost is. But not
quite.
It is a keyword search in that you can search on any single word in the
title. Request 6083 is "Let's play herbal doctor". You can find it by
searching on 'herbal' or any other single word in the title.
You can also find it by entering "Let's play" or "play herbal" or
"herbal doctor". Notice that I'm always using adjacent words.
But if you search by "play doctor" you won't find it. (You will find
Request 6078, but that's not the one you're looking for)
So, if you enter more than one word in the Title search, make sure those
words are all adjacent to one another, or your search will fail.
Give it a try. Then amaze your co-workers.
