Apologies, as always, for cross-posting.
In a previous email message posted to these lists on 7/10 we announced
that SirsiDynix will be moving us off of our 'shared' iBorrow server in
Provo and onto a 'dedicated' server there. This will provide a faster
and more flexible iBorrow environment for us and will give us a better
chance of getting the features you have asked us for.
The move from the shared server to the dedicated one will have
consequences for you.
On Friday, July 14, at 5 p.m. SirsiDynix will 'cut us off' from access
to the shared server. They will then copy all of our data and settings
over to the new server. There will be no access over the weekend (July
15 & 16). When we connect next week, we will have to connect to the new
server.
All staff who will use the URSA client-the part of iBorrow where staff
manage the InterLibrary Loans that are created at the iBorrow
portals-will have to uninstall the current client and install a new one
that 'points to' the new, dedicated server. SirsiDynix has sent us a set
of instructions on that process. They are at the end of this message.
If you need to call on your local IT department to install programs on
your computer, you will want to try to have them available to you on
Monday, July 17th. They should be able to work from the instructions
SirsiDynix sent us (See below) and get you going in a few minutes.
The new patron and staff iBorrow portals will also live on the new
server, so we will be getting addresses for them from SirsiDynix, too.
We will make those available when we can.
If testing continues to go well, we plan to launch iBorrow on Wednesday,
July 19, with five library systems (Sunline, Lee County, Pinellas Park,
Polk County, and Hillsborough County) and roll more of you into the new
service over the next few weeks as we complete testing on your systems.
As always, we appreciate your patience with this project.
