IBorrow users,
(If you are not an iBorrow user, don't even THINK about reading this
message!)
The previous 'build' of the iBorrow software, way back in September,
fixed several things and broke only a few.
We've got a new build on the way that should do even better. Look for
it on Tuesday, November 7, when you fire up your URSA client.
Here's a partial list of the improvements.
1. You can cancel requests that OCLC said they would fill but never
did.
2. You can-with some work on your part, we admit-set up patron/borrower
types that are not allowed to make URSA requests. This may keep
reciprocal borrowers from abusing your system or making end runs around
rules you have in place on your local catalog.
3. It should let Horizon place Holds on requests you receive from OCLC
4. It should drastically reduce-perhaps even eliminate-the problems
that arise when two parts of the Request Aging process become
'un-hitched', and the actual request moves on to the next lender in the
string, but the record of the request stays in the 'old' lender's work
space. [One result of this problem is that your local system (e.g.
Horizon) fills Holds, but you can find no matching requests in the URSA
client. That's because they are still 'stuck' one lender behind with an
expired "process by" date.]
5. You should get way fewer NCIP errors when placing requests.
6. Your patrons should be able to see their active Requests in the
portal again.
7. You should no longer get kicked back to-or out of-your default
agency in the URSA client.
8. You'll be taller, slimmer, and better looking while using the URSA
client. (Just checking to see if you're paying attention.)
I'd love to give you a list of the things the new build will break. But
that would spoil the surprise.
Watch your Email for more updates. This build has experienced two
last-minute delays so far.
