Sunline and iBorrow users,
Apologies as always for cost posting. If you never work with iBorrow,
you can delete this and go on.
After weeks of work, iBorrow now seems to be stable and to work pretty
much as it should. It still has rough edges and places where it can be
made to work better, but it no longer seems to crash on take-off.
However, there's a lot of 'junk' that built up in various parts of the
system during the weeks it was struggling to get its act together.
We're beginning the process of cleaning that up. As we do that, some of
the junk will just disappear. But some of it will move from one
library's iBorrow display to another library's iBorrow display.
EXAMPLE: When we launched iBorrow, it would drop requests for which it
could find no available copies in some Lending library's Mediated Loan
box, when they should have gone into the Mediate Borrowing box of the
patron's home library. And the lender couldn't decline them, so you
were stuck with them.
We plan to go through Fill Loan and Mediate Loan boxes and 'decline'
requests whose Process By dates have passed, requests that we determine
are leftovers from our original testing, and any others that just
clearly don't belong in a given library's Fill Loan or Mediate Loan box.
Declining them will move them to the next library in the ROTA or back to
the Mediate Borrowing screen of the patron's home library. So, you may
see new 'old' requests popping up in your Mediate Lending or Mediate
Borrowing window.
Don't get too excited about those for the next few days. After we go
through and Decline requests at numerous locations, we'll do further
passes and Cancel requests that no longer need to be there. Again, the
easy and obvious ones will go quickly. At some point, we will want to
coordinate with you to determine how you'd like to handle the remaining
'old' requests in your work space. Eventually, we plan to have only
active, workable requests in your URSA/iBorrow work spaces.
As always, if you have questions about iBorrow or think you've found a
glitch that hasn't been reported yet, pass it on to us with all the
details you can give us.
