You probably already know this, but just to make it official, the new
iBorrow build survived our weekend testing and is waiting for you to
fire it up and put it to work.
SirsiDynix loaded it onto the server late Friday afternoon, and Matt and
I began poking at it.
We ran into one problem, but SirsiDynix was able to diagnose and fix it
early in the evening.
After that, it did a great job.
For reasons that--so far as we know--are totally unrelated, the whole
URSA server crashed on Saturday morning.
Keith Poole went into the office and restarted it, and things have been
fine since then.
So, now it's your turn.
We want you to take the new build out for a test drive and tell us what
you think.
We need to say right up front that most of the changes are subtle.
(There's a partial list on Beth's Blog at
http://www.tblc.org/bethsblog/)
Search Requests is faster. The buttons in the URSA client have better
labels. Portal messages to patrons are easier for patrons to
understand. And we think we've gotten rid of all the ones that tell
patrons to "ask the Librarian" for help when a search fails. Overall,
the ride is more comfortable, and it gets slightly better mileage.
If you run into any problems or nasty surprises, please contact Matt or
me.
