[iBorrow] UPDATE - 5pm, Time Warner is still working on it. (was: Network Problems and iBorrow)

I've just spoken to Time Warner; several departments are currently
investigating our problems simultaneously in an effort to figure out
exactly what's going wrong (other than "the darn thing doesn't work").
I have given them permission to take the network down for testing, if
necessary, since our current status is not much better than that.
When we get to the office tomorrow, we'll update each other and then
send out another message letting you know what's going on.

Subject: [suntalk] Network Problems and iBorrow
IBorrow Users (and others),
TBLC is currently experiencing major network problems. We think we have
isolated it to a section of Time Warner cable that supplies our
connection to the Internet, but that is still under investigation, and
we may have to scrap that idea and start over.
If we are your Internet Service Provider, your Web access will be
erratic or non-existent until we resolve this.
If you are a Sunline member and connect to our Horizon server, your
connection will be erratic or non-existent until we resolve this.
If you use our RPA services, they will be erratic or non-existent
until...well, you know.
If you are using Alleycat or iBorrow, you will run into problems, maybe
large, maybe small.
Remember that the Alleycat server lives here at TBLC and is on our
network. And the Sunline server that iBorrow checks when you make a
request that might be filled by any Sunline library is on our network.
Any Sunline borrower who tries to use the iBorrow portal from home is
likely to have problems, because the iBorrow portal server
can't-reliably-verify his barcode in our Sunline server. And so on.
So, it's a mess.
We are, of course, optimistic that we will get this resolved soon,
because the alternative would be to resign and go home.
Please be patient, as we work our way through this problem.
We will update you one way or another as the situation develops.
Please call me, if you have specific questions.
