iBorrow Users,
Holly Harvey has got her team working on the iBorrow improvements that
we suggested to her during her visit a few weeks ago.
We don't have a date for the next build yet, but she did mention a
couple of 'cosmetic' changes to the staff client that are in the works.
1. They are going to re-label the 'buttons' so that you won't see the
same labels on both the borrowing and lending sides.
2. They will move the 'Loan" buttons to the top, since-at least for
now-all our work is with loans, not copies, and there's no reason for
copies to hog the top spot.
There will be much more substantive changes than that, of course, but
these are two things she specifically mentioned.
Some of the really big changes will take a while, because they depend on
having some good software engineers on the team. She has the authority
to hire the staff she needs, but there's an obstacle that is beyond her
control. The unemployment rate in the Provo area is 1.8%. Yes. Below
2%. And that's overall. We don't know the unemployment rate for high
level software engineers, but we suspect it is less. Possibly a bit
below zero, if some of these guys are working two or more jobs. That
doesn't mean they'll give up, but they'll be broadening their search.
Skiing is great in the Provo area, and the mountains are beautiful. Do
you know any software engineers who might like to move there?
