Carla Levesque, SPC, will present the program "Taking Information
Literacy
Online"
This presentation explores the process of designing, teaching, and
revising
an online information literacy course. Some of the design challenges
that
will be explored include learning the online course management software,
collaborating with other faculty and instructional technologists,
marketing
the class, and balancing these additional responsibilities with
traditional
work activities. Teaching challenges that will be shared include methods
of
encouraging participation in online classes and ways of tracking
students'
progress. Practical recommendations will be given to groups considering
a
similar project. Participants will have an opportunity to view the
actual
online course.
