Fifteen minute streaming video, available for free use, Susan Ariew has
shown it at beginning of instruction sessions
SAILS - USF tested students fall and spring semester, may test more
during the summer session. They'll receive one report for up to 8
sessions, with results broke out by classes.
There are users group for Phase I & II users to discuss how they used
the data. The SAILS grant has ended, it's anticipated that some form of
SAILS will be developed and offered sometime in the next few years.
MCC using Flashlight Survey for Information Literacy, shared the survey
& discussed future modifications.
HCC LIS 2004, online and adapted for on campus course 1 hour per week.
FIU & Miami Dade College received an award for a joint info-lit project.
They visited each other's campuses and sat in on instruction classes.
Discussed their instruction programs. Planned a joint training program
with Debbie Gilchrest.
Our group continues to be interested in developing shared Information
Literacy Competency Standards for our students, and finding ways to work
together. Judy will talk to TBLC about housing an Information Literacy
Clearing House on the TBLC Webpage, and developing TBLC sponsored
workshops.
Susan Ariew is presenting a program at LOEX on the culture of assessment
in libraries, and is willing to modify this presentation for a TBLC
workshop. We'd like to offer two half day workshops on the same day
this summer, and people could attend either the morning or afternoon
session, or both.
Drew is teaching a workshop on Inquiry Based Learning for the 21st
Century Learning Center at USF. He prints out relevant articles from
news.google for faculty to select and evaluate.
Steve Osler shared a tutorial he developed on metasearch and quick
search, using Robodemo. Maryellen also shared info about her tutorials,
and moving from Robodemo to Captivate. They have a 30 day trial, this
has a nice quiz feature.
Judy will try to find out the status of the tutorials developed with
TBLC last year.
The group discussed the merits of Hot Potatoes, free software for
crossword puzzles, word jumbles, and other activities.
We'd like to meet on a Friday morning, followed by lunch, sometime this
summer. Send your suggestions for date and location to Judy Born,
bornj at mccfl.edu.
