Please watch or let your CODI contact know to watch for the 2006 Ballot on Tuesday. It will be coming from david.schuster at pisd.edu - and again will be an email link for online voting.

It will be open from August 15th to Sept 15th.

If they do not get the ballot by end of day tomorrow please have them email me at david.schuster at pisd.edu - and I will send them the link directly. You know with spam filters et. al... ;)

I'm very Proud to put forth this list of candidates and the position they are running for. I put them in Alpha order by First name so don't think I am supporting any particular person by putting them first. They will also be on the ballot in this order. There are 4 positions to vote for this year.

Vice-President/President Elect

Amy Terlaga

I received my MLS from Southern CT State University in 1995, and my BA from the College of William & Mary in 1989. My current projects include serving on CODI’s 2006 Conference Planning Committee and chairing the evaluation committee of the Connecticut Library Consortium’s statewide virtual reference project, InfoAnyTime.

Beth Kroehler Muncie Public Library
Database Administrator
I received my Masters in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Masters from Ball State University in Executive Development for Public Service. Employment at Muncie Public Library, Muncie, Indiana started in 1983 as a Reference Assistant. After working with reference, Young Adults, circulation, community information, periodical ordering and technology. I am currently the Database Administrator and have worked in the Technology Department and the library automation field since 1991 when the library selected Dynix software, currently using Horizon. Presently I am also serving as the leader of our Tri-Libraries consortium, 3 separate libraries joined together to purchase the Horizon hardware and software with the system housed at Muncie Public Library. As part of my duties I am responsible for all the paperwork for Universal Services applications. In the past I have been treasurer of the libraries Staff Association and Indiana Literacy Coordinating Committee.

Lisa Broughman
System Administrator for the Lynchburg Information Online Network (LION) and the Technical Services Librarian at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, both located in Lynchburg, Virginia. Previous to working at R-MWC, Lisa was employed as a Quality Control Librarian at VTLS, Inc., and as the Serials Coordinator at Hollins College (now University). She received her MLIS from the University of South Carolina, and her BA in English and Philosophy from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College.

Lisa strongly believes in being an active member of professional organizations and currently belongs to Customers of Dynix Inc., the American Library Association, the Southeastern Library Association, and the Virginia Library Association. At this time she serves the VLA as the co-Chair of the 2007 Conference Committee, is the incoming Chair of the Scholarship Committee, is a member of the Awards and Recognition Committee, and is currently working with a small group of librarians to create a VLA sponsored mentorship program. Lisa also served a three-year term as the Chair of the Continuing Education Committee, and was a member of both the Nominations Committee and VLA 100th Anniversary Committee. In addition to this, she has served on several committees for the ALA New Member Round Table, the SELA Rothrock Award Committee, and numerous R-MWC campus committees including the Environmental Issues Council, the General Education Committee, and the recent completion of a two-year term
as Faculty Secretary.

Lisa feels especially honored to receive this nomination for the CODI Treasurer’s position. As her level of involvement in Horizon systems administration increased during this past year, she quickly became aware of just how valuable a resource this organization is to its members. For that reason, she would enjoy serving CODI with the same enthusiasm and interest she has shown to other professional organizations; and would work tirelessly to ensure the funding of the organization is managed and reported accurately.

At-Large Special Interest Groups Chair

Carolyn Texley
Director of Collections
The Lincoln Museum
Working since 1980 as an archivist, librarian and museum curator at several institutions (State of Michigan Archives, Michigan State University Art and Map Library, Cranbrook Educational Community), I have wide experience with a variety of information formats and information delivery challenges. Here at The Lincoln Museum, I was part of the team that selected Horizon as our multi-library ILS in 1994. We use Horizon for an integrated database of 18,000 rare books, in addition to all of our fine art, visual materials, museum artifacts and manuscript collections. I've been an ASP customer since 2004 and a member of HUG/CODI since 1994. I would like the opportunity to represent the special libraries and ASP customers' interests and concerns on the CODI board in order to better meet our needs and improve the product for our customers.

Cookie Wolfrom
System and Database Administrator for Delta County Public Library District in Delta, Colorado, which consists of 5 libraries. The District has been a Horizon ASP client since April 2001. I am also the Technical Support Liaison for a 68+ library consortium in Colorado called ASCC (Automation System Colorado Consortium) which consists of all type and size libraries, including public, school, academic and special libraries, that all use Horizon and ASP. Beside technical support, I do all the other things associated with the running of a group, including billing, scheduling and planning of meetings, working with prospective new libraries, on-going training and the promoting of SirsiDynix add-on products as well as helping to test and implement them. During this time I feel I’ve developed a great relationship with all of the SirsiDynix staff I’ve worked with, and especially the ASP team, who hear from me quite frequently.

At-Large Communications Chair

My name is Eric Parsons and for the last six years I've held the position of systems analyst and Horizon administrator for Iowa State University's Library. My duties have encompassed more than simple Horizon administration to include SQL programing, web administration, and web application development as well as past beta tests of Horizon 7.x software. Before coming to ISU I worked for two years as a web administrator for a private business which supplied website hosting to small businesses. Prior to that I worked at the University of Northern Iowa's Library as a student employee for four years in their Information Technology Department. I believe I'm fully qualified for the position of Communication Chair on the CODI Board.
