[ipac] Information portal displays(?) problem

Hi Laurie,
Yes, we have item info displaying in one of our HIP Bib Summary
screens and have had it that way for years with no problems that I'm
aware of. We are on 3.06a if that makes any difference.
I would recommend capturing the URL when the subjects do not display
and compare that to the URL when the subject does display right (for the
same bib) to see if there are any differences. You could also replace
the session number in the 'bad' results URL with the word 'new' (no
quotes) and bookmark it or keep it somewhere so you could use the same
exact link and see if your results vary with repeated use. If the same
URL produces different results I would let Dynix know and go for a walk.

Subject: [ipac] Information portal displays(?) problem

Hi all,
I have two ongoing issues that I'm trying to solve with IP (3.05). The
first issue is the display of the full bib, in that sometimes it shows
the subject and series data and sometimes it does not. In other words, I

can pull up the same bib at differeent times and sometimes the
subject/series data will be there and sometimes it will not. The full
bib display is set up properly, according to SirsiDynix support.
However, the support person at the company suggested that I do not have
the bib summary set up correctly and that this might be the cause of the

full bib display problem. Apparently, I cannot have item data displayed
in the bib summary, although I've had it set up this way for at least
two years. So, I'm asking two things here: 1) Does anyone else have item

data displayed in their bib summary; and 2) Does anyone have any ideas
why the full bib display works fully (pun intended) sometimes and not
others? [Server logs show nothing amiss that we can discover. They don't

seem to be helpful for this kind of thing anyways.]

The other issue is with Reserve Book searches. The instructor search
works fine 99% of the time. However, the course search often hangs. I
can be going along doing 3 or 4 course searches and then with the next
one, the search just hangs, and after I stop the browser I can't do any
more searches at all in Reserves unless I close the browser and reopen
it and/or restart IP on the server. Again, the logs show nothing. Has
anyone got any ideas whatsoever about this problem--where to start
looking? The SirsiDynix support person thought it was (again) the way I
had my displays set up so she went and changed a bunch of things all
with no result.

Thanks for any thoughts you might have.
