***All of the resources are behind our firewall so they won't actually play the video unless you are within the district.

naked url's - we started doing the cataloging probably 3 years ago and were newbies at it.  We have learned a lot and are just trying to get them cataloged into the database.  We may go back at some time and do what you are suggesting but for now the users can also tell which service the item is streaming from or copy the url and save it for later.
David, I do have two questions-


1.) I note that you have "naked" url's (my term for lack of a better one) showing up on your results list. We were able to utilize the "z" subfield of the 856 tag:



So that the only thing that shows up in the hyperlink that the user sees is "Click here to view":
 
A small point, perhaps, because a cursor hover will show the true url in the browser, but I was just wondering why you decided to do it without using the "z" subfield.


2.) The second question might cause more concern. I notice that you have subscription services (UnitedStreaming and PowerMediaPlus among others) listed. Would their "naked" url's cause them concern? In addition, I notice that while your UnitedStreaming links challenge for username and password, your PowerMediaPlus links do not. Would PowerMediaPlus view this as an infringement issue?

Also - we are cataloging all of these if someone wants to purchase the MARC records we will sell them to you for either service, Unitedstreaming or Powermedia, we are starting on the Safari content soon.
