[ipac] Where to find text of error message

Dave,
This morning I searched for the strings myself, and I see what you mean.
What I find in the search for string variables is only the label
"Renew failed:"
but the rest of the sentence can vary, and IPAC generates that based on the
problem. It could be that the item is requested, or (in the case we are
looking for) the patron's card is about to expire.
I'll pass this on to our web developer, but doubt we will want to make
changes to the ipacadmin.gdb file.
Thanks,
Thena

Hi Thena
A lot of the error messages are stored within the ipacadmin.gdb database
file on the HIP server.
It's been awhile since I rolled up my sleeves and altered the contents of
the file, but I'm sure someone will be able to post instructions.

Subject: [ipac] Where to find text of error message
Can someone tell me where we can change the text to an error message?
If a patron tries to renew in HIP, and his card will expire before the new
due date, the renewal is denied. The text says:
"Renew failed: Card expires before renewal date."
We would like to edit this message slightly.
One of our web developers searched for this string in all variables, and
also did a text search on the XSL style sheets. She used a variety of search
expressions. We cannot locate this text.
Any suggestions as to what we are missing?
Thanks,
Thena
