Yes, ours are on a webserver. The idea is for any document that is linked 
to be reachable. For testing purposes you can put a document on your own 
workstation, but that's not gonna do any good as long as you want to make 
it available to all users.  The ideal thing is to have a website on the 
server where your Horizon database sits, so, if need be, you can 
pack/backup them together.

Yes, we do that all the time for TOC's, except we use the http protocol. 
In case the user does not have a pdf reader installed the browser uses its 
own reader.

Has anyone been able to enter a file path (ie c:\horizon.pdf) in the 958 
or 856 fields on the MARC record that will pull up a pdf document in HIP?
