Hi Jonathan,
I sent a reply to this list after you posted the last time; unfortunately, the archives are unavailable past 2005 (Ben? Susan?). So I can't check to see what details I submitted.
We have basically done the same thing as U of Chicago, with some slight variations. I can provide a list of the tags we chose for each index, if you're interested. I don't recall having any problems with the conditionals, but perhaps I didn't notice. I had difficulty testing the search capabilities as I don't have the means (or knowledge) to enter non-Roman characters from my workstation. I just used cut and paste...
Here's an example from my word_index:
Author Keyword
BAW
.AW
1003
bib
Iauthor
100abcdfgklnpqt, 110abcdfgklnpt, 111acdefgklnpqt, 130adfgklmnoprst, 245c, 700abcdfgklmnopqrst, 710abcdfgklmnoprst, 711acdefgklnpqst, 730adfgklmnoprst,
*880abcdfgklnpqt, *880abcdfgklnpt, *880acdefgklnpqt, *880adfgklmnoprst, *880c, *880abcdfgklmnopqrst, *880abcdfgklmnoprst, *880acdefgklnpqst, *880adfgklmnoprst
The tags preceded by stars are conditional; they correspond to the previous tags, in order. If you were to look at our marc_map for Iauthor, you would find that the first 880 above has a Conditional Part of 6/0.3 and a Conditional Value of 100. The next 880 has the same part, but a value of 110. And so on... Is that how your marc_maps are set up?
If you search our HIP, <http://leonardo.lindahall.org <http://leonardo.lindahall.org/> >, you will find that you can enter this in Author Keyword:
町田 市立 国際 版 美術館 (copied from bib# 457812)
And you will find five results, the first one of which is bib# 457812!
Good luck, and please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
Natasha
