Greetings everyone,
This message is being cross-posted on Horizon-L and the ipac mailing
list; please excuse any duplication.
I have attempted to migrate HIP to another server using our HIP 3.06A
CD; the current server runs on Windows 2000 while the new one has
Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition Service Pack 2. I know that the
former uses InterBase Guardian while Firebird is required for the
latter.
Next I tried installing everything into the directories that are on the
old server so the paths could be as identical as possible. I got as far
as the Setup Wizard I opened a browser to access the Administration
tools, the URL wasn't recognized. In the server itself, I went to
Administrative Tools-Services to check the paths of HzApp, HzSearch, and
HzXSL. The paths shown in the Paths to executable field (as seen when
one right-clicks on the service name and chooses properties) were
different from where the executables were actually located. So I decided
to uninstall everything (making sure the registry was clean) and tried
again.
I had more success the second time (when I went with the defaults of
where the CD wanted to install everything) but I'm still not exactly
where I'd prefer to be. I was able to pull up the HIP Admin tool
(sa_tools) using a browser and when I went into one of the profiles to
attempt a search, I got this message (a white dialog box with a red
title bar):
An Error Has Occurred
Type: Exception
Subject: Unable to get XSL Processor
Reason: Build reply message failed
Message: Check XSL Processor for errors
Number: 102
I tried to reboot (Application Maintenance Unplanned) to see if that
solve anything but no go. In fact, I couldn't even get to the HIP Admin
tool):
HTTP ERROR: 404 /sa_tools/admin/setup.jsp Not Found
RequestURI=/sa_tools/admin/setup.jsp
When I tried to search a profile again, I didn't get the XSL error
message but got a 404 message there as well. I went to Administrative
Tools-Services to see if anything was running and the only thing that
started was HzApp. So I right clicked on the service names to check the
paths and they were different than where the executables actually were
(surprising since I went with the defaults). For example, this is what's
entered in the Path to Executable field in the Properties dialog box
(which is grayed out so I don't see how that can be edited):
HzSearch:
C:\dynix\hznindexservices\service\srvany.exe
HzXSL:
C:\dynix\XSLProcessor\xsl\service\XSL_srv.exe
But this is where they actually are:
HzSearch:
C:\Program Files\dynix\hznindexservices\service\srvany.exe
HzXSL:
C:\Program Files\dynix\xsl\service\XSL_srv.exe
Doing the usual net stop hzxsl in the command prompt didn't even work.
So went to the directories they were actually located in and tried to
start the services by double clicking on them-I actually tried this
twice, the first time, I was able to get to the HIP Admin as well as get
the XSL error message when I went to a profile. So I rebooted and tried
again, and now I'm getting 404 messages.
Quite frustrating as one would think an installation would be simpler
than this, especially if you're going with the defaults. There has to be
a way to get the services going again as well as get the Services
portion in the Administrative Tools of the server to point to the right
paths.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate.
Thank you in advance,
