[ipac] Predefined Limits in HIP

Good morning!
I have a question for any libraries that have a default location limit applied to their HIP profiles in order to limit search results performed to just that location's items.
It is has always been my understanding that once the initial search is performed and the search results (which will be limited by the location specified) are returned, if a user selects a second limit on the results page, the first limit (in our case
location) is canceled out, and the search is re-performed with the new limit selected. In our case, this means that search results that are returned after the second limit is applied may or may not belong to the location who's catalogue is being
searched.
This is the way that I have always understood the limits to work, and this has been confirmed by a recent Log Express to SirsiDynix, and by a "Tech Tips" document on HIP Limits that I found on the SirsiDynix website.
However, I have had three schools in the past week and a half complain that limiting hasn't been working since we had our Horizon 7.3.4/HIP 3.08a upgrade at the beginning of January. They all state that previously, they were able to apply a second limit
after performing an initial search that was limited by location, and that after applying that second limit, the results that were returned were for their location only.
I guess I am looking for a little reassurance from other libraries using default location limits that I am in fact not losing my mind - that our users have never had this capability - and that what I have been told by SirsiDynix and have read on the
site is in fact true!
The response to my log to SirsiDynix was that there was a workaround by creating new combined limits, but that is not something that I want to get into at this time.
Thanks,
Stefanie
