The behavior you describe here...

... occurs on all HIP installs.  I think there's a setting in HIP where you
choose your default profile.

I see a custom start page for your libraries here:
http://catalog.library.jhu.edu/
It looks like someone created that on your server directly; it's not coming
from HIP and I've never seen anything like it.
