[ipac] Non-roman display, weird order?

Thanks, this was a good hint. I've actually basically figured out what's going on. I've figured out how to write HTML to do whatever I want. But I'm not actually certain what the "right" way to display this is, and also have no idea if it's possible to get HIP to do that.

Would be interested if anyone else has addressed this issue in HIP, what they ended up doing.

If you're interested in my analysis of the situaton, I tried to write clearly for others at my institution, see:
http://bart.mse.jhu.edu/rochkind/hebexplan.html

Which will probably only be intelligible at all if you have Hebrew font installed on your workstation.

I did some poking around, and I think it has to do with the fact that
sometimes Arabic numerals are used with Hebrew (and other languages).

If my HTML has
<hebrew characters>, 1927-

the page displays
1927 ,<hebrew characters>-

But
<hebrew characters>, 1927-1952
produces
1927-1952 ,<hebrew characters>

and
<hebrew characters>, 1927 - 1952
produces
1952 - 1927 ,<hebrew characters>

and
<hebrew characters>, c1927
produces
<hebrew characters>, c1927

As soon as it hits a letter or (some?) symbols, it seems to resume
normal ordering.

I don't know how you could fix that - it seems to be browser-based (as
you said). Maybe someone else on-list has run into it before.
