Excuse the cross-postings, but I'm not proud about tossing it out to all
who can potentially help.

The email below came from one of our previous Asst Directors, so she
knows some of the background with HIP but was not here for the
transition to 4.x - lucky Sylvia! I'm trying to solve things but parts
of it are beyond my understanding.

I asked her what type of computer she's on, what OS and what version,
what Browser and what version, and whether cookies were enabled. I also
asked which IP addresses she was given and by whom so I can make sure
they're accurate (and that they didn't hear something I'm not getting
that would solve the whole thing).

Naturally, I can't replicate the problem on my workstation or laptop.
I'll have to wait to get home to test it from outside the library's
network.

We're on Horizon 7.4 (Sybase) and HIP 4.1.2. The server is a Win2003
box.

Anything else you good folks can think of to check would be a great
help!

Subject: online catalog

Hi, Laura,

Could you please tell me why I can't get into the online catalog on my
computer? It says it failed to accept PCS, whatever that is, and says
to refresh or reboot. I have tried both. Today I called and got your
IP addresses and added them to my trusted addresses because I thought
maybe it was my firewall that was causing the problem. It didn't make
any difference.

When I click on one of your categories, such as "Adult fiction", it
goes to a screen that say UPortal and says that it isn't working and to
contact your system administrator.

This has been going on since last summer, but now that it's cold I would
really like to be able to use the catalog from home so I can check on
books, renew, or reserve them, as I used to be able to.

I would appreciate any suggestions you can give me. I don't know if the
problem is on my end or your end or with msn at this point.

Thanks.
