In the recent issue of American Libraries (January 2005) there is an article
"Critiquing the Curriculum" by
Wayne Wiegand. He discusses the lack of research and instruction in library
schools regarding the library as a "place" where people gather (a social
institution) and where people go to "read" and borrow books. He states that
library schools tend to focus on "information," rather we need study how our
patrons use the library. I found the article very interesting and thought
you might too.
