In the recent issue of American Libraries (January 2005) there is an article 
"Critiquing the Curriculum" by
Wayne Wiegand. He discusses the lack of research and instruction in library 
schools regarding the library as a "place" where people gather (a social 
institution) and where people go to "read" and borrow books. He states that 
library schools tend to focus on "information," rather we need study how our 
patrons use the library. I found the article very interesting and thought 
you might too.
