Hi all,

I hooked up with the chair of the solo librarian's division and we have
been discussing offering a class on portals and intranets.  Howard
McQueen is a well-known
speaker and teacher in this arena.  We are considering having him teach
a one-day CE course on portals - cost would likely be around $200 per
person.  If you would be
interested in taking such a course, please let me know along with your
preference for an intro, intermediate, or advanced course (remember this
is nearly two years out!).

I only got one suggestion from the list for 2002 programs.  I would
really appreciate any input you may have.  In addition to the CE course,
we were thinking of doing a program with several portal vendors
discussing their wares and a program with case studies from our group or
the solo-lib group about how they developed portals in their libraries
or companies.

I was also interested in doing something on intellectual property
management (or intellectual capital management).  If you have any ideas
for speakers or want to be involved (or just send me ideas! 8-), please
let me know.

The response I did get asked for a program on how to handle problem
patrons and staff.  I'm happy to report (perhaps happy isn't the best
word 8-) that this issue came up from several divisions and the Library
Management Division will be doing a program to address this topic.
