>From the Editor
Summer will soon be here and thoughts and plans turn toward vacations.
With that in mind, the interesting websites I’ve included below can be
used to help you plan your vacation or maybe, explore some options you
hadn’t thought about.
If you have any news or items of interest or information you’d like to
see in the next newsletter, send them to me via email at:

Sites of Interest?
Approved Holiday Cottage Guide - http://www.cottageguide.co.uk/
On your next trip to England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Northern
Ireland, the Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man, go beyond the
traditional bed and breakfast and get to know the locals by booking a
country cottage, a farmhouse, or even a castle. This site features over
2000 Tourist Board approved properties, mostly in country or village
settings, available by the week. Called "self-catering" in Great
Britain, these accommodations can be searched by town or county or
browsed using drop down menus or by clicking on a map. Each entry
includes a picture, detailed description, prices, and the particulars on
how to book direct. Subjects: Vacation rentals -- British Isles

Vacation Rental Mangers Association: VRMA Directory -
http://www.vrma.org/directory/
Travelers can use this site to find vacation property rental companies
by location or keyword throughout North America. Directory listings
include links to company Web sites with descriptions of individual
vacation rentals.
Subjects: Vacation rentals

State of the Cities Data Systems - http://socds.huduser.org/
This site "...provides data for individual Metropolitan Areas, Central
Cities, and Suburbs." State of the Cities 2000 Fast-Look gives access to
specific cities' historical census data, current employment statistics,
and county business pattern databases. Separate sections for those
topics and for FBI crime data go into more detail. Definitions of
criteria, methodologies, and statistically defined areas are provided.

States -- Population -- Statistics

June Meeting

Wednesday, June 6. 6 p.m.
CAE USA (http://reflectone.com)
4908 Tampa West Blvd, Tampa Florida 33634
813-887-1658 (direct library phone)
813-885-7481 (main switchboard)

The CAE facility is a secured facility, so all attendees must enter the
front lobby between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be served beginning
at 6 p.m. If you can not make it prior to 6:30 p.m., please contact
Betsy to make advance arrangements. Anyone arriving late can still get
into the building. However, those who anticipate getting here after 6:30
should let Betsy know in advance if possible, so we can be on the
lookout for them.

Lexis/Nexis has offered to sponsor our June meeting on Wednesday, June 6
at 6:00 pm. A buffet dinner will be served - similar to what we enjoyed
at our December meeting.(Editor's note: for those of you who did not
attend that meeting, the dinner was to die for!) Deidra Payne will
present a program on Time Management. Because we are meeting at CAE
(formerly BAE Systems and Reflectone) in Tampa, you must arrive on time
for the guard to let you in.

RSVP to kingb@cftnet.com or leave a voice mail at 813-887-1658 no later
than Friday, June 1. In fairness to our sponsor, we still need to
consider your positive response an obligation to attend, even though
there will be no cost to us for the meal. Late reservations will be
accepted only as space allows.

Deidra is the Librarian Relations Consultant for Alabama, Florida,
Georgia, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Deidra came to LEXIS-NEXIS after five years as a librarian at the firms
of Brown, Todd & Heyburn and Alston & Bird. Deidra is a member of the
American Association of Law Libraries, Special Libraries Association,
and several regional law library associations. Deidra received her
M.L.I.S. from the University of Kentucky.
See the maps on the SIS website http://snoopy.tblc.lib.fl.us/sis/ for
