From creed at ncf.edu Fri Oct 3 10:20:08 2008 From: creed at ncf.edu (Reed, Caroline) Date: Fri, 3 Oct 2008 10:20:08 -0400 Subject: [sis-l] Nomination of Officers Message-ID: <846D336ED686FF48943D51955C2C5B23071CCEA3@quicksilver.network.ncf.edu> The Nominating Committee for the Suncoast Information Specialists would like to place the following names in nomination for officers in 2009. Vice President/President Elect -- Christa Fowler Secretary -- Linda Garrison Treasurer -- Cheryl Wolfe Jessica Zairo will move into the President's position. The election will take place at our October meeting which will be held on October 28. Stay tuned for meeting announcement. Special thanks to members of the Nominating Committee -- Wanda Barrett, Whitney Curtis and Caroline Reed. Biographies of Candidates Vice President/President Elect - Christa Fowler I worked at various U.N. agencies in Europe for over ten years and then returned to the Tampa Bay Area. While caring for an elderly parent, I finished up my AA from Hillsborough Community College. I then transferred to the University of Tampa, graduating with honors earning degrees in both History and English. Then I decided to become a librarian when I grew up! I earned my MLIS from the University of South Florida in the spring of 2006. After graduation, I was hired as a Visiting Librarian with the Reference & Instruction Dept. at the USF Tampa Library. I am currently an adjunct librarian at the HCC Dale Mabry Campus Library. A self-declared Luddite, I have learned to like (if not love) Lib 2.0. I am a Second Life Librarian and have a Facebook page as well. I am willing to investigate/pursue anything that will keep me current with the interests of Digital Age students! Secretary - Linda Garrison Let's see...a bit about me...FSU for my MLIS in 2006; Saint Leo for my BA in Bus Admin; I was Reference Librarian at Seminole Community Library @ SPC for 2 years which I LOVED; recently took a position as Librarian at Canterbury School of Florida, Hough Campus, and teach Internet Research at Everest University (formerly FL Metropolitan U). Treasurer - Cheryl Wolfe Hello! My name is Cheryl Wolfe and I am running for Treasurer of the Suncoast Information Specialists. I am a recent graduate of the Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute and committed to serving SIS in a leadership capacity. Currently I am the Digital Projects Librarian with the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library. I earned my MLIS from Kent State University in 2005. Prior to librarianship, I was the Office Manager for the International Women's Are & Space Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. I managed museum memberships, including collecting dues, preparing reports and increasing the numbers of members. As candidate for Treasurer, it is my sincere pledge to maintain accurate financial records and to ensure that revenues continue to exceed expenses. If elected, I will work closely with my fellow officers to meet the organization's needs. I will also work to increase memberships. As Treasurer, I promise to perform all duties with honesty, integrity and dedication. I look forward to the opportunity to serve you in the upcoming year.
