Head of Public Services (Medical Associate Librarian)

Position Number 39350

 

The Harriet F. Ginsburg Health Sciences Library is searching for a  Head of Public Services.  This is a non-tenure track faculty position.  The successful candidate will be responsible for  planning, delivering and coordinating the full range of public services functions.   A strong public service perspective, experience and enthusiasm for delivering services in a physical and virtual library both to campus-located and distant students and faculty.

 

The University of Central Florida College of Medicine was established in 2006 by the Florida Legislature and the Florida Board of Governors to address the growing physician shortage nationwide and provide economic benefits to Central Florida and the state. This is truly a once in-a-lifetime career opportunity to build and develop our virtual and physical library spaces. This position will work with our faculty colleagues to bring the resources of the library to the desktop/laptop and to the classroom.

  

Required qualifications:

 

*	Master’s degree in library or information science (MLS or MSLS) from an ALA accredited program. 
*	Three years of experience in an medical and/or academic library..

 

Preferred qualifications:

 

*	AHIP membership.
*	Three years of experience in an academic health sciences  library.
*	Excellent oral and written communication skills.
*	Ability to work well with a variety of people within a team framework.
*	Working knowledge of both print and non-print library resources, including internet resources and electronic journal, bibliographic and citation databases.
*	Experience and working knowledge of a variety of productivity and bibliography management 

software applications.

 

 

Salary/Benefits:

 

Salary dependent on skills and experience; Excellent benefits package including TIAA/CREF
