<smaller><smaller>Carole, is there any official statement from your office? This article is in THE NATION (July 2,2001) that is on
the stands and online now. Also on several national ALA lists including OIF, ALA Council, ALA MemberFORUM.

Forwarded, to my horror, by my good friend Carol Reid of the NY State

Library and NYLA.

This is yet another example of the mindlessness, the indiscriminate

decision making, the bush-league consultants' influence to which we submit

ourselves, taking us into a world where "spin control" becomes an everyday

issue.

Will ALA take any responsibility for this execrable choice of

spokesperson, driven by a mind-set from the coroporate world of

advertising and branding being promoted by ALA which is exactly the kind

of thing I have been at pains to remind ALA Inc of at every opportunity.

I demand tha this choice be publicly a) explained b) reversed c)

apologized for, not only by Florida but by ALA headquarters, the Exceutive

Board and President.
