Culture, Movies and Adultism

Ever look at young people out at the mall or in some other social venue
and wonder, "What are they doing?" Ever hear young people talking to
each other and wonder, "What are they saying?" Ever scratch your head
and ask yourself how they can type so fast on those cell phones? Well
this is the workshop for inquiring minds. 

The culture of teens can be foreign to adults but fascinating just the
same. In this workshop, we will explore the world of youth to gain a
better understanding of the population that we serve, raise or just
watch in awe! You will be introduced to programs from across the country
that understand youth and that have created engaging ways to increase
and maintain youth participation. Lastly, learn more about one of the
most damaging isms that plague youth today.

 Stated learning objectives:

*	Participants will have a better understanding of the impacts of
culture on youth. 
*	Participants will be able to identify websites and other
informational tools to get up-to-date youth information. 
*	Participants will learn how to use current youth media to
stimulate and engage youth. 
*	Participants will become more knowledgeable of media and its
role in the life of youth. 
*	Participants will be introduced to established youth programs
from across the U.S.
