TBLC Workshop Announcement  

Working with volunteers is a great way to get free help during this
budget crisis. Join this workshop to learn how to run a successful
volunteer program and make the most of your volunteers.

Volunteers Make The Difference

Learn to extend your library's impact through effective use of
volunteers. Libraries and Friends organizations, like many nonprofits,
can thrive with a well-run volunteer program. This workshop will address
key issues including preparing for, recruiting, and working with
volunteers. Participants will share tips and exchange ideas while
learning to identify core components of successful volunteer programs,
including:

*	Three steps to take before recruiting volunteers 
*	Locating volunteers with needed skills 
*	Matchmaking tips for volunteer coordinators 
*	Tips for retaining volunteers 
*	Overcoming barriers to success   

Bio: Faye Roberts is a former social worker whose first library job was
coordinating the Suwannee River Regional Library's volunteer literacy
program. After completing the M.S.L.S. degree from Florida State
University, she served as Director of the Columbia County Public Library
and as a library development consultant with the State Library and
Archives of Florida. Roberts is currently Executive Director of the
Florida Library Association, a statewide organization of volunteers who
love libraries.
