Innovative Children’s Programming

Tired of doing the same ol’ things in the same ol’ way? Need a little
inspiration and motivation? This hands-on workshop is the answer!
Participants will learn how to mine the collection for programming ideas
that excite kids about the books and excite them about their job, all at the
same time! A crash course in developing age-appropriate programming that is
literature-related, non-staff-intensive, cost-effective, and enjoyable for
kids and staff alike. You’ll leave with new program know-how and ideas, plus
a renewed commitment to children’s programming!

Sherry Norfolk offers a wide variety of staff development opportunities to
improve library service to children. During her 17 years of experience in
public libraries, both as a children’s librarian and Youth Services
Coordinator, Sherry received awards from the Urban Libraries Council, the
National Association of Counties, the American Library Association, and the
Florida Library Association for developing and implementing innovative and
creative library services.
